VOLLEYBALL: GHS Goes on Road to Sweep Burnet 3-0

Gatesville went on the road again Friday night, this time downing former league-rival Burnet in straight sets. GHS won 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 in upping its season record to 22-5. It was the second straight victory over a former District 8-3A rival for the Hornets, who had beaten Lampasas earlier in the week and face ex-league rivals Brownwood (Tuesday) and Llano (Friday) here this week. Stat leaders: Makaylee Mueller (7 digs), Laura Vega (5 digs), Mikayla Heckmann (18 assists, 3 aces, 7 digs, 3 blocks), Lexi Hall (8 kills, 5 digs, 5 aces), Kayla McGiboney (5 kills, 5 blocks), Maddi Sims (3 kills), Brianna Poe (2 kills, 2 aces, 1 block). Burnet won both sub-varsity games. GHS hosts Brownwood here Tuesday (9th Grade at 4:30, JV at 5:30, Varsity at 6:30 PM).
