CROSS COUNTRY: Boys Runners-up at Waco, Brock 1st

Gatesville High claimed the runner-up spot at Friday's Waco ISD meet. The Hornets totaled 49 points and finished behind only meet-champion Robinson in the boys' team standings. Nick Anderson (16:48) and Elmer Ramirez (17:11) nabbed Top 10 spots by finishing fourth and ninth respectively. Otherresults: Tripp Roberts (11th, 17:20), Rhett Gore (12th, 17:30), Juan Martinez (13th, 18:18), Jhovany Maldonado (15th, 18:34), Abate Hennessy (DNF). In the girls' race, Jordan brock claimed her second gold medal of the season by covering the 5K course in a meet-best time of 20:21. Evan Edmiston (21:15) was fourth and Cassidy Norwood (22:28) 10th for the GHS girls. Leoni Hessler had a time of 26:28. Gatesville will compete again October 4 in the Round Rock McNeil Invitational, which will be held at the site of the upcoming state meet (Old Settler's Park in Round Rock).
