(Posted Wednesday, February 24) Gatesville scored a goal in each half, sending the Hornets to a 2-0 win over Lorena here Tuesday night. It was a key victory in District 17-4A for GHS, which holds onto second place in the 6-team standings. The Hornets (7-7-1 overall) are 5-2 in league play with three games remaining in the regular season. GHS faces China Spring on March, then gets a week-long break before ending the 17-4A slate March 17 and March 20 against La Vega and Connally respectively. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, which would be a first-ever for the Hornets. More details to come on Tuesday's win.
