My name is Rebecca Mendoza and I am the new Special Education/Life Skills Teacher at Gatesville. I graduated with a dual major from Grand Canyon University with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education & Special Education. I am married to Antonio Mendoza a Master Sergeant in the Army. I have four beautiful children and three gorgeous grand-children. My passion is working with special needs children, because they are the most kindred spirits I have ever known and they bring such joy to my life. I have been working with special needs students since 2006 as a paraprofessional. This is my first year teaching and I am privileged to be working with your children. I look forward to a fun and exciting school year.
I wanted to share a couple of great quotes that I strongly believe in, when it comes to educating children.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -- Benjamin Franklin
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Anonymous
"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of becoming." -- Goethe
