About Mrs. Wells

My name is Cherith (shur-eeth) Wells and I am THRILLED to be the Choral Director for Gatesville ISD.  Let me tell you a little about myself!

I was born and raised in Tomball, Tx where I began singing in Choir at church at the age of 2!  Throughout Junior High and High School, I was a part of Choir but also Band, Theatre, Dance, Cheer, FFA, played piano, played handbells and I was even the school mascot my Senior year!

I enjoyed being a well rounded student, but I found Choir to be my "calling", so after graduating from Tomball High School, I attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos to Major in Vocal Performance.  In addition to studying music, I worked at a flower shop and was Boko the Bobcat, the university mascot!  I ended up switching my major to Music Education when I discovered that I LOVED being in the classroom!

After graduating with my Bachelor of Music in 2003, I was the Head Choral Director at Waller High School for 13 years, where I built the program from fine arts credit "dumping ground" to a program with over 100 members that consistently achieved UIL Sweepstakes awards!

We relocated in 2016, bought and renovated our home on South Mountain, and I was blessed with the position of Associate Choral Director at Midway Middle School in Waco where we had over 300 students in 7 ensembles, all of which were UIL Sweepstakes winners!

When the position in Gatesville came open, I could not apply fast enough!  I was so excited at not only the professional possibilities it offered, but also the personal possibilities!  We love Gatesville, and I have enjoyed expanding the legacy that this program has built over the years.

I married my High School Sweetheart in 2004, and we have 2 incredible children who have loved becoming Hornets!
