CROSS COUNTRY: Boys, Brock Claim Gold at Belton Meet

Gatesville High distance runners claimed their share of gold at Thursday's Belton Invitational. The Hornet boys, with four runners in the top six, won the team title in the Class 1A-4A division. Abate Hennessy (17:01), Nick Anderson (17:19), Tripp Roberts (17:23) and Elmer Ramirez (17:30) finished third through sixth respectively. Jhovany Maldonado (22nd, 18:23) and Rhett Gore (23rd, 18:30) rounded out the GHS squad. In the girls' JV 1A-4A race, Jordan Brock timed a 12:44 to win the individual title and GHS finished second overall. Other GHS runners included: Evan Edmiston 11th, Sarah Hogan 40th, Corie Tunnell 46th, Lesleah Byford 92nd, Anna Sweeney and Selenia Santosky. Gatesville will compete again September 5 at the Waco Midway Invitational.
