VOLLEYBALL: GHS 24-5 After 3-0 Sweep of Llano

Gatesville High extended its winning streak to seven games with an easy sweep of Llano here Friday night. The Hornets' 25-9, 25-5, 25-5 win was their 24th of the season. GHS (24-5 overall) closes out non-district play Tuesday at Taylor (JV and 9th Grade at 5:00, Varsity at 6:00 PM), then opens District 17-4A play September 27 at 5th-ranked Robinson. "I thought our kids did a good job tonight, and we had the opportunity to get a lot of playing time for some players that don't always get that chance," said GHS coach Rickey Phillips. "We need to continue playing well because the 10 district games are going to be grueling. The district is one of, if not the, toughest in Class 4A and every game is going to be a battle."
