(Posted Monday, February 9) Gatesville, using its lengthy string of medal winners, claimed runner-up honors at Saturday's Waco Reicher Invitational. The Hornet girls had eight lifters win medals, including gold-medal efforts from KayDee Sexton and Cursti Cope. Sexton totaled 970 pounds (410 squat, 220 bench, 340 deadlift) for her top prize, while Cope earned gold with a three-lift total of 1,010 (385-305-320) and was named Lifter of the Meet for the second week in a row. Liz Trejo (715 pounds) and Ilaysha Broadnax (630) garnered silver medals, while bronze medals were won by Corinna Lyon (865), Maria Lozada (740), Jasmin Medina (675) and Bailey Rowe (530). Complete results are attached. GHS has just two meets remaining, Saturday at Georgetown East View and February 21 at Stephenville, before hosting the THSWPA regional meet on February 28.
